About Me
Sabine Fife -
Specialist Neurological Occupational Therapist
I specialise in supporting neurological and Post Covid clients with a tailored virtual therapy programme for the management of chronic fatigue and cognitive difficulties.
I also provide phased return to work planning following acute sickness or a relapse.
My bespoke therapy is offered individually but the fatigue management programme can also be accessed as part of a group therapy course.
I am a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. Both are statutory regulators and set out professional standards, training and conduct requirements which I am dutybound to abide by. This ultimately serves to protect you through the safe, effective and proficient practice I offer which includes legislation on confidentiality, trustworthiness and ethical conduct.
My background in education, complementary therapy, autism and care of the elderly led me to take a keen interest in neurology. I studied Neuroscience amongst other certification and diplomas and later qualified with a degree in occupational therapy. I laid down firm foundations for my OT career whilst working on an acute stroke ward for many years. Since then I have served clients who are living with long term neurological conditions or acquired brain injury in my local community setting.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, I additionally worked for a Post Covid Rehabilitation Service and was asked to design and deliver an evidence-based virtual fatigue management programme; this has been extremely successful.
What you can expect
In my private practice I offer individual as well as group therapy sessions of the same high standard which may allow you to avoid current long NHS waiting lists.
You may also be seeking further occupational therapy to complement input you have already received.
Step ONE:
I meet you initially unconditionally for 20 minutes over the telephone or preferably via video platform to get to know you and ensure you understand how I work. You may then wish to book an initial assessment.
Step TWO:
Once we have concluded the initial assessment, you can book one or more therapy sessions individually or as part of a course within a group. These sessions help you progress to your goals.
Step THREE:
A specialised assessment and final written report are optional. This will show your progression, standardised assessment outcomes and give longer term occupational therapy recommendation.
Beyond energy conservation, fatigue management, cognitive rehabilitation and phased return to work planning, I offer practical advice on activities of daily living.
The use of equipment underpins a compensatory approach and therefore can decrease fatigue, a level of difficulty or reduce risk. However, where appropriate, I prefer to explore and recognise your strengths which I use to help overcome any challenges. This enables you to become more productive and increases a sense of self worth and autonomy. I set realistic and meaningful goals with you which ultimately leads to an improved quality of life and a greater sense of identity, empowerment and achievement.
You are warmly invited to contact me for an unconditional introduction to help move your situation forward.
